How to Embed a Restream Live Feed into Your Tribe Platform

Embedding a Restream live feed directly into your Tribe platform is a great way to keep your live streams simple and accessible without the need for third-party services like YouTube. This guide will walk you through the process step-by-step, from setting up the stream to archiving it on your platform.
Step 1: Setting Up Your Restream Event
Log into Restream:
Go to the Restream dashboard.
Schedule an Event:
Click on "Schedule Event".
Use the Restream Studio and name your event (e.g., "Test Stream").
You can turn off streaming to other platforms like YouTube or Facebook for this test.
Create the Event:
Click "Create Event".
Once the event is created, find the icon with two arrows to get the embed code.
Copy the token that appears after "token=" in the embed code.
Step 2: Embedding the Restream Feed in Tribe
Log into Your Tribe Dashboard:
Go to your Tribe Social dashboard.
Add Content:
Click on "Add Content" at the top.
Name the content (e.g., "Restream Test").
Select "Restream Embed" as the content type.
Enter the Embed Token:
Paste the token you copied from Restream into the designated field.
Turn on live chat if desired.
Click "Save".
View Your Embedded Player:
Click "View" to see the embedded player with live chat on your platform.
Step 3: Starting Your Live Stream
Go Live in Restream Studio:
Enter the Restream Studio.
Click "Go Live" to start broadcasting.
Your stream will now appear in the embedded player on your Tribe platform.
Real-Time Viewing:
Users can view the stream without refreshing the page. As soon as the broadcast starts, it will automatically appear.
Step 4: Archiving Your Stream for Replay
End Your Live Stream:
After your live stream, click "End Stream" in Restream.
Download the Recording:
Go to the Restream dashboard.
Click "Download Recording" once it's processed.
Upload the Recording to Tribe:
Go back to your Tribe dashboard.
Click the pencil icon on the Restream content you created.
Click "Upload Video" and select the downloaded Restream file.
Let the video upload and save.
Step 5: Finalizing the Archived Video
Refresh and Check:
Refresh the content page to ensure the uploaded video appears.
The video will now be hosted on your Tribe platform, detached from Restream.
Preserving Live Chat:
The chat from the live stream remains attached to the replay, fostering a sense of community between live viewers and those watching the replay.
Tips for a Smooth Experience
Consistent Email Use: Ensure members use the same email for Restream and Tribe to avoid access issues.
Email Confirmation: Send a welcome email with login instructions after purchase.
