Automate User Sign-Up via Stripe (Using Zapier)

In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of automating the addition of users to Tribe Social based on new Stripe subscriptions using Zapier. This is particularly useful if users subscribe through a funnel or another app and you want them to be automatically added to a group in Tribe Social.

Step 1: Set Up Your Zap in Zapier

  1. Log in to Zapier and click on Create Zap.

  2. Select a Trigger App:

    • Choose Stripe as the trigger app.

    • Select New Subscription as the trigger event.

    • Click Continue.

  3. Connect Your Stripe Account:

    • Follow the prompts to connect your Stripe account to Zapier.

    • Select the Stripe account you want to use.

    • Click Continue.

  4. Test the Trigger:

    • Zapier will pull in sample data from recent subscriptions.

    • Click Continue once the data is pulled successfully.

Step 2: Set Up the Action in Zapier

Next, we'll set up the action that will create or update users in Tribe Social.

  1. Add an Action:

    • Choose Tribe Social as the action app.

    • Select Create User as the action event.

    • Click Continue.

  2. Connect Your Tribe Social Account:

    • If you haven't connected your Tribe Social account before, click on Add a New Account.

    • Enter your Tribe Social email, password, and domain.

    • Click Yes, Continue.

  3. Map the Fields:

    • Name: Select the customer's name from Stripe.

    • Email: Select the customer's email from Stripe.

    • Account Level: (Optional) Set the user’s account level to Basic, Free, or Premium. Leave blank to retain the existing level.

    • Group ID: Obtain the Group ID from your Tribe Social dashboard. Navigate to Groups, select the desired group, and note the Group ID (e.g., 211).

  4. Test the Action:

    • Ensure all fields are correctly mapped.

    • Click Test & Continue to create a test user in Tribe Social.

    • Check your Tribe Social dashboard to verify that the user has been added correctly.

Step 3: Automate the Process

Once the setup is complete, your Zap will automate the process of adding new users to Tribe Social every time a new subscription is created in Stripe.

  1. Name Your Zap (e.g., "Stripe to Tribe Social User Creation").

  2. Turn On Your Zap:

    • Click Turn on Zap.

    • Your Zap is now live and will run automatically whenever the trigger event occurs.

Additional Tips

  1. Send a Welcome Email:

    • Use your CRM (ActiveCampaign, HubSpot, etc.) to send a welcome email to new subscribers.

    • Provide instructions on how to sign in to Tribe Social and set their password.

  2. Match Email Addresses:

    • Ensure users sign in to Tribe Social using the same email address they used for their Stripe subscription.
